The badge is gone but the vehicles are not, and the reason they are still on the road is that they are GM trucks underneath. An H3 shares a great deal with the Colorado of its era and an H2 with the full size trucks, so engines, transmissions, brakes and suspension are ordinary parts we can get without difficulty.
What is genuinely scarce is body and trim, and we will say so rather than let you find out slowly. Mechanically these are straightforward vehicles that respond well to being looked after. The limiting factor in this climate, as with most trucks of that age, is corrosion underneath rather than anything we would have to order.

What an H2 or H3 needs
Truck problems rather than exotic ones, with the weight of the vehicle making itself felt.
Front end wear and steering wander
These are heavy vehicles and the front end components know it. Ball joints, tie rods and bushings wear faster here than on a lighter truck, and they take the alignment and the tires with them.
Fuel economy falling off a cliff
Usually ignition and sensors rather than anything dramatic. On an engine this size a small inefficiency shows up quickly at the pump, which makes diagnosis worth doing.
Rust on the frame and body mounts
A Michigan question rather than a Hummer question, but worth taking seriously on a vehicle of this age. The frame is what we want to see.
Brake performance dropping off
Heavy vehicle, so brakes work hard and rotors and pads wear quickly. Measurements rather than opinions, because the numbers matter more on something this weight.

The H3 sits on the same platform as the Chevrolet Colorado and Canyon of the period, and the H2 shares a great deal with the GM full size trucks. So a part that is listed as discontinued or unobtainable under a Hummer number is frequently on a shelf under a GM one. Knowing where to look is most of what keeps these on the road, and it is why we still take them.
