This is the building, not a branch of it. Everything below is what it is like to bring a car here: where we are, how to find us, what the wait is like, and which towns we see customers from.

Finding Us

On Woodward, at the north end of town

The shop sits at 29444 Woodward Ave, on the stretch north of 11 Mile and south of 13 Mile. If you know where Beaumont is, we are south of it. If you know downtown Royal Oak, we are a straight run north up Woodward from Main Street. It is the kind of address you do not need directions for twice.

That location shapes what we see. Woodward traffic is stop and start, the surface streets off it take a beating every spring, and a lot of Royal Oak driving is short hops that never get an engine properly warm. Brakes, suspension and oil all wear differently here than they would on a highway commute, and we quote intervals accordingly rather than reading them off a chart.

Practically, being local means you can leave the car and get on with your day. Plenty of customers drop a car off, walk down toward the Farmers Market or grab coffee, and come back to it. There is 24 hour drop off if your schedule does not line up with ours.

While You Wait

The coffee is not a pot that has been sitting since eight

This is the shop itself rather than a branch of it, and the front of the building is set up for people who would rather stay with the car than arrange a ride home. Most oil changes and a good number of brake jobs get waited on.

  • Coffee made a cup at a time. A rack of pods rather than a jug on a burner, with sugar, sweetener and stirrers, and a mug if you would rather not drink out of paper.
  • Snacks and cold drinks, at no charge. Nobody plans to be here at lunchtime, and occasionally a job runs longer than the estimate said it would.
  • Free Wi-Fi in the waiting area. Plenty of people work through an oil change rather than take the morning off for it.
  • A shuttle if you would rather not wait. We have a shuttle vehicle, and Lyft or Uber on qualifying services. Tell us when you book and we will sort it out.
  • Or leave the car with us entirely. There is 24 hour drop off and after-hours pickup from a coded key box, and the Farmers Market and most of downtown are a short walk from the door.

Why Neighbors Come Here

What being the local shop actually changes

You talk to the person who saw the car

Not a service writer reading a screen in another building. If you want to know what the rotor measured, we will tell you the number, and we can walk you out to the vehicle.

We are still here next year

A shop three miles from your house has to live with its reputation. That is a stronger guarantee than any policy document, and it is why we would rather lose a job than sell one that is not needed.

Repeat customers get a history, not a fresh start

Your file follows you. What was done, at what mileage, what we flagged as coming due. The second visit is faster and cheaper than the first because nobody is guessing.

No appointment needed

You can walk in. Booking online means you are not waiting behind anyone, but nobody gets turned away for showing up.

Free estimates, in writing, before anything starts

And if we find something mid-job, that reaches you as a phone call and a decision, not as a line item on the invoice.

Limited lifetime warranty on most repairs

For as long as you own the vehicle. Written down, so there is nothing to argue about later.

★★★★★

Excellent service and professional auto repairs. First repair was a water pump replacement. That was done timely and well. Very satisfied. Next experience prompted this belated review. Same vehicle had a coolant leak. These guys diagnosed it quickly and made the repair as soon as they got the part from GM (it was a dealer only part). Once again, great service and incredibly fair on cost for installation. My go to shop for sure!

The Michigan Year

What each season does to a car around here

Southeast Michigan is genuinely hard on vehicles. Knowing what is coming is most of staying ahead of it.

  1. Winter: salt gets into everything

Brake lines, fuel lines, rocker panels and suspension hardware all corrode faster here than almost anywhere. We look at the underside of every car that goes on a lift, because a rusted brake line is not something you want to discover by using it.

  2. Early spring: the potholes arrive

Freeze and thaw wrecks the surface streets, and one hard hit can bend a wheel, blow a tire sidewall or knock the alignment out. If the steering wheel is not centered after March, that is not your imagination.

  3. Late spring: the alignment reckoning

This is the busiest alignment stretch of the year for good reason. Getting it corrected early is the difference between an adjustment and a new set of tires.

  4. Summer: air conditioning and heat

The first genuinely hot week finds every marginal AC system and every tired cooling fan at once. A system that was weak last August did not fix itself over the winter.

  5. Fall: the pre-winter check

Battery, tires, wipers, coolant strength and brakes, before the first cold snap rather than during it. A battery that starts a warm engine in October can fail on the first morning below twenty.

All Makes and Models

Every make that comes through the door

Domestic, Asian and European. We hold the diagnostic equipment and the manufacturer service information for all of them, which is what lets us do dealer level work here.

Questions

Royal Oak questions

Where exactly are you in Royal Oak?
29444 Woodward Ave, Royal Oak, MI 48073, on the north end of Woodward between 11 Mile and 13 Mile. There is parking on site and 24 hour drop off if you cannot make our hours.
What are your hours?
Monday through Thursday 8:00 to 5:30, and Friday 8:00 to 5:00. We are closed weekends, which is why the after hours drop off exists.
Can I just turn up, or should I book?
Either works. Walk in and we will get to you, and booking online simply puts your car on a lift at a known time rather than when we reach it.
Do you work on my make?
Almost certainly yes. All makes and models, domestic, Asian and European, including hybrids and light duty diesel.
Can I leave the car and walk somewhere?
Yes, and a lot of people do. Downtown Royal Oak is a straight run down Woodward from us, and the Farmers Market is close by.
What will it cost to find out what is wrong?
The estimate itself is free and written. Where a fault has to be traced, that diagnostic time is quoted to you up front, so there is never a number you did not agree to.
Will using an independent shop void my warranty?
No. A manufacturer cannot require dealer servicing to keep a factory warranty valid. Federal law is explicit about it. Repairs actually covered under that warranty still go back to the dealer.
